General and consultative work

Good work in practice usually cannot be done unless the legal preconditions are appropriate. To be able to create those preconditions, the legislator needs to have some knowledge about the needs and requirements of actual practice.

This is where general and consultative work of ISS is needed. We strive to be mediators, not only between legislation and social work but also between theory and practice. Our experience from casework as well as from our discussions with professionals on the occasion of specialist conferences is put to good use, as we provide position papers on draft legislation and contribute to the development of international conventions. Our aim is the further development of international social work and progress of legislation.
